One of the Hudson Valley region's newest parks is the Walkway Over The Hudson State Historical Park. The park encompasses the old railroad bridge that crosses the Hudson River and no carries a pedestrian walkway across the river. The unique perspective of the walkway, 200 feet above the Hudson gives you views of the City of Poughkeepsie, the Hudson Highlands, the Catskills and the surrounding Hudson Valley.
The park links the City of Poughkeepsie on one side to Highland on the other side and with a couple of off-park trails, you can actually make the walk over the walkway into a large loop that lets you cross both the pedestrian bridge in the park and Mid-Hudson bridge just to the south.
