Seagate 1.5TB External Expansion Hard Drive

As my computer has aged, the hard drive has been filling up with digital photos and music files.  In order to have extra room and to provide a backup for my important files, I started shopping for an external hard drive that could fill both needs.  I discovered the Seagate 1.5 Terabyte External Expansion Drive through a special offer at Staples.  It was actually slightly larger than what I was looking for, but at the price and when compared to other drives, I thought it would be a good choice.

I have discovered that it was a good choice.  The 1.5 terabytes of space gives me plenty of room to backup important files and move some of the larger files off my computer’s hard drive to this drive.  The read and write speeds are quick and the communication with my computer is as seamless as it is with my internal hard drive.  Overall I am very happy with the performance of this hard drive.

Western Digital My Passport Essential 250 GB USB Hard Drive

Having had the chance to use Western Digital's My Passport Essential 250 GB Portable Hard Drive at work has shown me just how handy these little drives are.  Not only do they make easy to use backup drives, but they are great for transferring data between various machines.  They also make it easy for me to bring any sized file I need home to work on.  I have yet get one for myself at home, mostly because I can use the one at work, but I think sooner, rather than later, I will end up picking up one of these drives for personal use at home.

Dell 1320c Cyan Toner Standard RY854 Toner Cartridge

Since the Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer that I have is a color laser printer, you need to have several different colored toner cartridges in order to be able to print in full color.  One of those cartridges that you do need is the Dell 1320c Cyan Toner Cartridge. 

I do not print a ton of color items, so I am still using the original Cyan Toner Cartridge that came with my printer.  This cartridge lasts for approximately 1,000 pages and I think in about 8 months or so I have had the printer, I have probably not even gotten halfway there with color printing.

Hewlett Packard Photosmart C5580 All-In-One InkJet Printer

After several months of using the HP Photosmart C5580 at my new office, I've found that it is a decent all-in-one machine that prints, scans and copies and does them all pretty well.  I have not found many issues with the C5580 beyond the fact that it uses lots of ink, like most ink jet printers.  Otherwise it's been a little workhorse on my desk, printing out my draft documents and occasionally printing and making color copies for me.  I use the scanner quite a bit too.  I really did not think too much of the printer when I started, but considering all that it can do, I have come to like this printer.

Dell Black Toner Cartridge for Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer

The first toner cartridge in my Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer was this 1,000 page, standard toner cartridge. There isn't too much to say about this cartridge other than it works well and it lasts for about the 1,000 pages that it is rated for. My only real problem with the cartridge was how quickly I went through it. That's why I've switched to the 2,000 page cartridges that Dell offers since the price difference isn't that much and I don't have to be replacing cartridges as often.

I generally print out black and white prints and hence the with only 1,000 pages of capacity, the cartridge finished up pretty quickly with regular printing at home. I use the printer for home needs, but also do printing for my work and for my partner's work, so at times we can be printing out quite a bit of black and white documents.

DELL 2,000-Page Black Toner for Dell 1320c Toner Cartridge

There isn't too much to say about this cartridge other than it works well and it lasts for about the 2,000 pages that it is rated for. I've gone through one of these cartridges so far in the life of my Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer.

I generally print out black and white prints and hence the 1,000 page cartridge that came with the printer finished up fairly quickly. That's why when I was looking to get a new one, this one caught my eye on the Dell website. It doubles the printing capacity without doubling the price. This cartridge costs about a third more than the 1,000 page cartridge, so it's a pretty good deal considering you are getting twice as many prints out of it.

Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer

For occasional color printing jobs and lots of black and white printing, I rely on my Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer in my home office. Sure I've got an all-in-one inkjet, but for the majority of my printing jobs, I just use the 1320c since I get better text quality on a laser printer. I would say that about 90% of my home printing goes through the 1320c with only the occasional photo print going through the inkjet or if I use the copy feature on it.

Brother MFC-790CW Wireless All-In-One InkJet Printer

It faxes, it copies, it makes calls, it scans and it prints. The Brother MFC-790CW wireless color inkjet all-in-one printer has turned out to be a pretty handy jack-of-all-trades for my home office. Another handy feature is that I can connect it wirelessly to my network, so I can print from my laptop anywhere in the house without having to extend ethernet cable to the printer itself.

While I don't think it is a spectacular printer, the MFC-790CW has proven to be a good workhouse for the various things I've needed to print, fax and copy. Plus I have found that it's been easier for me to scan photographs and other items with the MFC-790W than my old flatbed scanner.
