It seems that I've had one of these simple compasses pinned to almost every backpack that I've ever owned. The compass itself doesn't really tell you much beyond a general direction, but I've found that I do look at it and use it and since it is inexpensive, it isn't a problem to have one on your backpacks. You won't be navigating trackless wilderness with the Pin On Compass, but it does come in handy if you're at a viewpoint and wondering what direction you are looking in or if you want a quick idea of how to orientate a map while you are in the woods.
